Fourth of July Traditions

Hey guys! Happy Fourth of July! 🇺🇸 I hope your week has been great! We went to a family wedding in Idaho so I’m writing this blog post while traveling.

I have been thinking this week about things we did as a family when I was younger on past Independence Days and I thought I would share a few of them with you. . .

One thing we did nearly every time was have a barbecue. I think that is a pretty common tradition for most folks. We usually grilled burgers and chicken. My mom made homemade macaroni salad and potato salad that I always looked forward to taste testing for her. So delicious! Of course we always had family and friends over to enjoy eating the yummy grub with us.

One year we watched the Air Show on my grandpa’s boat in the Puget Sound. That was a lot of fun! It’s something I would really like to do again sometime.

For several years we went to a friends house in the evening and watched fireworks from their house, ate food and had fellowship. The firework show was amazing every time!

A couple years ago we went to the east side of Washington state and watched fireworks over the Columbia River. It was so awesome to hear the big booms echo on the cliffs across the water.

A little tradition my family had when I was younger was we all got matching Fourth of July shirts, usually from GAP. It was something my mom did from the time I was about two years old or younger until I was about 18. Just a cute simple way to make a memory.

This year we stopped at my husband’s cousins and went to a small town firework show. Nothing extravagant but still a good memory that will last a life time!

I love spending holidays with friends and family and making memories. Share your Fourth of July traditions in the comments! I want to know what you guys do!

Until next time. . .
